Bachelor of Technology Management (Construction) with Honours
About the programme
This programme is designed to enable student in acquiring relevant technical and technology management knowledge related to construction management field to pursue a career in the construction industry. The programme aims to produce graduates who are able to:
- Manage and coordinate construction projects professionally and effectively.
- Practice construction project manager professionally, ethically and fulfill social responsibility.
- Develop interpersonal skills including communication, leadership, decision making and entrepreneurship.
Programme Structure & Assessment
This programme consists of 126 credits to be completed within the total of eight (8) semesters. The programme focusses on fundamental management, technology management, construction technology, and construction project management. All courses are assessed through assignments, quizzes, tests, laboratory works, presentation, projects, and final examinations.
DURATION AND AWARDS
Duration : Four (4) years. Intakes in September.
Award : Bachelor of Technology Management (Construction) with Honours. This programme has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), United Kingdom since 2014.
This programme consists of the following courses:
YEAR 1 (SEMESTER 1 & 2)
Principles of Economics, Principles of Management, Construction Drawing, Human Resources Management, Principles of Marketing, Construction Technology I & II, Soil Mechanics, Entrepreneurship, and Co-curriculum I & II.
YEAR 2 (SEMESTER 3 & 4)
Management Information System, Land Survey for Construction, Construction Technology III, Construction Law, Structural Analysis, Soil Mechanics, Construction Procurement, Taking Off Quantities and Technology Management.
YEAR 3 (SEMESTER 5 & 6)
Leadership and Supervision, Sustainable Construction, Structural Design, Construction Project Management, Construction Facility Management, Construction Safety and Health Management, Construction Cost Estimation, Planning and Scheduling, Construction Financial Management, Environmental Management, Bachelor Degree Project I, and (elective courses I : Management of Landscape Construction, Land Economics for Construction, Traffic and Transportation Management).
YEAR 4 (SEMESTER 7)
ICT for Construction, Construction Economics, Construction Strategic Management, Construction Project Development, Bachelor Degree Project II and (elective courses II : Water Resources and Treatment, Environmental Technology, Real Estate Development).
YEAR 4 (SEMESTER 8)
This programme is recognised by the Public Service Department of Malaysia and accredited the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). This programme is officially obtained accreditation from professional institution the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), United Kingdom.
Construction management graduates have career opportunities in the construction industry either locally or internationally. Upon their graduation, these graduates have good potential to become an Assistant Project Manager, Assistant Construction Manager, Site Engineer, Project Coordinator, Site Agent, Site Supervisor, Site Clerk, and Project Planning Executive. Otherwise, graduates, who are interested in research, can work as a research assistant (RA) in any research institution in the field of construction project management. In addition, graduates are eligible to continue their studies at post-graduate level in any university in the world, provided they have excellent academic results.
