About the programme

The Master of Science Construction Technology Management programme is structured to ensure graduates develop in-depth knowledge in the field of industry-focused construction management. Hence, enhancement of existing discipline knowledge for Integrated Project Delivery is carried out via field work and hands-on application based modules. This degree programme contains electives courses to provide student in exploring their niche areas of interest. The programme incorporates an international content to make this programme relevant worldwide.

Programme Aim

The aim of this programme is to produce professional who can plan, implement, evaluate, assess and analyze project information and technology in the construction industry.

Objectives :
  1. Applying knowledge of project management and state of the art construction technology effectively in the area of construction management.
  2. Developing project management skills for enabling creative and competent analytical thinking capabilities for effectiveproblem solving across disciplines.
  3. Able to work individually or collectively in the construction project team.
  4. Applying professional ethics and entrepreneurial skills in providing value-added services to clients and the community aimed at sustainable development.

Programme Structure & Assessment

Coursework involves lectures, seminars and master’s project. Each courses carries approximately 3 credit while research projects or Master’s Project ranges from 6 to 12 credits. A master’s project may be completed within one or two semesters subject to the requirement of the specific course of study. A two semester project consists of Project 1 (2 credits) and Project 2 (4 credits) while a one semester project carries 12 credits.

This programme consists of the following courses:
Semester 1
Project Planning & Development, Construction Project Management, Contract Law & Procurement, Construction Technology, Project Financing, Research Methodology.
Semester 2
Strategic Management in Construction, Construction Safety, Health & Environmental Management, Professional Ethics in Construction Practice, Computer Application in Construction, Master Project 1
Semester 3 
Value Management and Construction Organizational Behaviour, Master Project 2.

Elective Courses:

Advanced Construction Technology, Risk Management in Construction, Advanced Building Services, Dispute Resolution in Construction, Road & Highway Management, Advanced Concrete Technology

Admission Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree* with honours from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia or any other Institutions of Higher Learning recognised by the Senate;
Other qualification equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree with related experience deemed acceptable by the Senate;
*Minimum CPA for coursework: >2.50

Other Qualification Will Be Considered
Working experience in related field for those who do not meet the minimum CPA.
Higher Diploma equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree from recognized university

English Language Requirements For International Students
TOEFL 500 or IELTS 5.0 or MUET Band 3**Exemption is granted to international candidates based on the following conditions:
Graduates from any Malaysian University; or
Country from which the student comes from uses English as its first language (medium of communication) (will be certified by experts in FSTPi, UTHM), or
Has undergone an English proficiency course which is deemed equivalent by the Senate with minimum requirement of MUET, TOEFL or IELTS
